James Gallagher uses collage to investigate human form and personal identity. Piecing together images cut from found material– old books, National Geographic, and the occasional sex manual– Gallagher creates intimate scenes that are both personal and moving. James Gallagher's art has been shown in galleries all over the world. His images can be seen in magazines, newspapers and books, and have appeared on street apparel, pillowcases and even tea towels. Gallagher has produced work for Arkitip, Stussy, Undefeated, J&L Books, Nerve.com, and Virgin Mobile. His art has been featured in American Illustration, Communication Arts, Society of Publication Designers, and numerous Die Gestallen Publications. Born and raised in Middle-America, Gallagher moved to New York to attend The School of Visual Arts were he studied Illustration and Graphic Design. In addition to creating art, Gallagher is a Creative Director and resides in Brooklyn with his wife and two sons, and has a baby girl on the way.
